The video then shifts to the Monterey jazz festival where preparations are underway to host such notables as Big Joe Turner, Eddie Vinson, Esther Phillips, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Margie Turner, and Jimmy Rushin. A highlight of the festival is the performance of the Duke's big band and guest Woodie Herman. The producer of this video is Steve Parry.

Duke Ellington (b. Edward Kennedy Ellington, April 29, 1899, Washington, DC–d. May 24, 1974, New York, NY) was a composer, pianist, and jazz orchestra leader.
